Privacy Policy

Overview

Verdant is built on a simple privacy principle: your grow data belongs to you. The app stores everything locally on your device. We do not run a user database, we do not sync your data to the cloud, and we do not sell or share your information.

App Data (iOS)

All plant profiles, journal entries, photos, and environmental data you create in the Verdant app are stored exclusively on your device using Swift Data. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it, or unless you have iCloud backup enabled in your iOS device settings (which is controlled by you, not Verdant).

When you use the AI Advisor feature, Verdant constructs a prompt from your plant context and sends it directly to your chosen AI provider using your own API key. Verdant does not log, store, or have access to your AI conversations.

Waitlist Data (This Website)

When you join the waitlist on this website, we collect your email address. We store it in Vercel KV (a hosted Redis database) and use Resend to send a confirmation email and a launch notification when the app becomes available. We do not use your email for any other purpose, and we do not share it with third parties.

We also log the IP address of the submission request to detect and prevent abuse. This data is not linked to any persistent user profile.

Analytics & Cookies

This website does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party tracking scripts. We do not set tracking cookies. Vercel, our hosting provider, may collect aggregate traffic metrics (page views, bandwidth) as part of their platform — this data is anonymized and not tied to individual users.

Third-Party Services

This website is hosted on Vercel and uses Resend for transactional email. The Verdant app uses your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) only when you use the AI Advisor feature, and only with your own API key. Each of these services has its own privacy policy.

Data Retention

Waitlist email addresses are retained until the app launches. After the launch notification is sent, you may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

Your Rights

You may request to view, correct, or delete any personal data we hold (your waitlist email address). Contact us at privacy@homegrown.guide and we will respond within 30 days.
