Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Overview
This policy covers the website at homegrown.guide. The site sets a small number of cookies, all of them for Google Analytics, so we can see how many people visit and which pages they read. Nothing on this site sets advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
The Verdant iPhone app does not use cookies. Your plant records, journal entries, photos, and environmental history stay on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy.
What a Cookie Is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise the same browser on a later visit. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are first-party cookies; cookies set by another service the site loads are third-party cookies. The cookies below are set by Google on behalf of this site.
Cookies This Site Sets
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one browser apart from another so page views can be counted as aggregate usage. It does not identify you by name or email. | 2 years |
| _ga_0X54L7KNE2 | Google Analytics | Keeps the current browsing session together for the Google Analytics property that measures this website. | 2 years |
We do not set login, preference, or shopping cookies, because the site has no accounts and no checkout. Joining the waitlist stores your email address on our server and sets no cookie. The site does not use browser local storage or session storage to track you.
Other Third-Party Requests
Some page assets load from other companies' servers even though they set no cookies on this site: the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, the Product Hunt launch badge image, and the pages themselves from Vercel, which hosts the site. Each of those providers receives your IP address and basic browser details when the asset loads, and handles that data under its own privacy policy.
How to Control Cookies
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a single site or for all sites. Blocking the cookies above does not change how this website works; you will simply not be counted in our analytics.
You can also stop Google Analytics from measuring you in any browser by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google explains its own use of cookies at policies.google.com.
Changes to This Policy
If we add a cookie or change what one is used for, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
